President John Dramani Mahama has called on residents of Bawku and its surrounding areas to bring an end to the long-standing conflict that has plagued the region for years.

The President emphasized that the conflict has left painful scars on the younger generation, who deserve a future free from violence and destruction.

Speaking at the 68th Independence Day parade at the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday, March 6, 2025, President Mahama stressed that the time for peace in Bawku and its environs is now.

He underscored the need to create peaceful memories in schools, marketplaces, and communities, fostering an environment where young people can thrive rather than grow up amid conflict and fear.

“To the people of Bawku and other affected areas, it is time for lasting peace to prevail. Our children deserve to inherit a peaceful land where their minds are nurtured, not where their nightmares are relived. They deserve to inherit a land where our markets flourish with trade, not tension and conflict. They deserve to inherit schools that echo with learning, not sorrow” he noted.
