The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the vandalization of the statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, situated in front of the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region.

The statue unveiled by the President during his regional tour ahead of the general elections, has received some amount of damage with a noticeable hole in behind the left leg.

Residents of Takoradi had previously threatened to have the statue taken down, and it looks as though they have partially succeeded, as a portion of the statue is now damaged.

It is still unknown if the damage was the consequence of a structural problem, deliberate actions by those opposed to the statue, or both.

However, the Police have assured the public in a statement of bringing the perpetrators of the act to face the law.
