18-year-old Godwin, suspect in the O’Reilly Senior High School murder, has been remanded in police custody for two weeks for allegedly stabbing to death his colleague, Edward Borketey Sackey, at O’Reilly Senior High School.
Godwin appeared in the La District court on Thursday, September 5, and was charged with murder. He is accused of stabbing Sackey to death after a heated altercation on Monday, September 2, reportedly over whose father was wealthier.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred shortly after Sackey had finished an exam. A cousin of the deceased, who witnessed the incident, said the stabbing happened during a fight between the two colleagues.
Godwin was arrested on Tuesday, September 3, and will reappear in court on September 19, 2024.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the school community and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
