The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is pushing for transparency in its meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) over the 2024 provisional voters register, announcing plans to livestream the discussion despite the EC’s refusal.
In a letter dated August 27, the NDC requested a meeting to address alleged discrepancies in the voter register. After the EC agreed to meet on September 6, the NDC asked for the session to be broadcast live, but the EC declined.
Undeterred, the NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr. Omane Boamah, stated on Facebook that party representatives would ensure the meeting is streamed live for the public to see. He also warned the EC against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming election in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), cautioning that such actions would be unacceptable.
Dr. Boamah further criticized the NPP’s “loud silence” on the matter, questioning why the ruling party has not spoken out about the anomalies in the provisional voters register.
