The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Dome Kwabenya constituency, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, has announced her decision to contest and hopefully retain the Dome Kwabenya seat in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary election.
The former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, made this announcement during a visit to some areas within her constituency. According to her, if her constituents give her the nod, she is ready to contest the seat again.
Politics relies on the will of God and the people. If they desire it, and it’s the will of God, I will run again,” she stated.
Last week, the said MP rendered a public apology to H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as her constituents over what she described as her unintentional actions which brought the party and the constituency into disrepute.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party says it has received her apology positively. However, some party executives within the Dome Kwabenya Constituency say they have accepted the MP’s apology cynically.
According to Theophilus Larbi, the NPP constituency Secretary for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, her re-election as parliamentary candidate for the next general elections could adversely affect the party’s chances in the constituency.
Some constituency executives also argue that her re-election is solely dependent on the constituent’s decision at the polls.
