On Wednesday, August 13, a large group of youth organisers from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) converged at the party’s national headquarters in Accra to pick up presidential nomination forms on behalf of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group, made up of regional and constituency youth organisers from across Ghana, arrived in coordinated NPP-branded clothing, singing party anthems and chanting slogans as they made their way into the premises.

Addressing journalists, Isaac Obeng, one of the youth organisers, said the move was both symbolic and significant, coinciding with the recent celebration of International Youth Day.

“Yesterday marked International Youth Day, and as youth organisers and deputies from different constituencies, we felt it was important to mark the occasion by taking action,” Obeng said.

He explained that their gesture was not just ceremonial, but a strong show of support. “We are here to collect the nomination forms for our incoming president, Insha Allah, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. We see this as a token of appreciation and a show of confidence in his leadership,” he added.

Obeng also emphasised the strong unity among the party’s youth, pointing to the widespread representation within the group. “We have youth organisers from many constituencies represented here today. After picking the forms, we will proceed to his residence and campaign office to formally present them,” he said.

He further expressed belief in Dr Bawumia’s vision for the country, noting that his past achievements as Vice President demonstrate the kind of leadership Ghana needs at this critical time.

“We believe this day could mark a new beginning for our nation. Dr Bawumia’s record speaks for itself, and we trust that he is the right person to lead Ghana forward,” he stated.

This development follows a similar action on August 5, when a group of NPP Members of Parliament picked nomination forms on behalf of Kennedy Agyapong, another contender in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries set for January 31, 2026.
