Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been cleared to run for a seat on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.

He is set to contest unopposed for the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) position.

Expressing his excitement on Facebook, Okraku wrote: “I’m thrilled to share that I’ve passed the integrity test and am now cleared to contest for a place on the CAF Executive Committee.

I’m excited for what lies ahead, and I pray for God’s guidance throughout this journey.”

Okraku’s bid to join the CAF Executive Committee will be part of the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly, set for March 12, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt.

This congress will feature crucial elections, including the selection of CAF’s President, Executive Committee members, and African representatives for the FIFA Council for the 2025–2029 term.

Okraku’s unopposed candidacy highlights his strong standing in African football, stemming from his leadership at the GFA since 2019.

Under his guidance, Ghanaian football has seen significant growth, particularly in youth development and governance reforms aimed at increasing transparency.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who is also running unopposed for a second term, will oversee the assembly.

Other key candidates vying for positions include Tanzania’s Wallace John Karia, Liberia’s Mustapha Raji, and Algeria’s Sadi Walid.

The congress will also decide on Africa’s representatives to the FIFA Council, with notable figures like Sierra Leone’s Isha Johansen, Egypt’s Hany Abou Rida, and Senegal’s Augustine Senghor competing for spots.
