Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament this week to address ongoing concerns surrounding the unresolved parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The constituency has been without a Member of Parliament since the general elections held on December 7, 2024, due to a dispute over the collation of results from several polling stations.

The electoral impasse has left the constituency unrepresented in the legislature for over six months.

In a bid to resolve the issue, the Minority Caucus on June 4 formally petitioned the Ghana Police Service, urging them to provide adequate security to ensure a safe and transparent re-collation process by the Electoral Commission.

Jean Mensa is expected to appear before Parliament’s Committee of the Whole to update lawmakers on the steps taken so far to address the electoral stalemate.

Members of Parliament are anticipated to press for a clear timeline from the EC for completing the collation process and declaring the official outcome of the vote.
