Hearts of Oak face venue setback after NSA denies access to use Accra Sports Stadium

Hearts of Oak have once again been forced to search for an alternative venue after the National Sports Authority (NSA) denied them access to the Accra Sports Stadium for their upcoming Ghana Premier League clash against Nations FC.

The Phobians had hoped to return to their traditional home ground, but the NSA rejected the request, citing two key issues.

Firstly, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) publicly confirmed the venue without obtaining official approval.

Secondly, Hearts of Oak’s request came too late, making it impossible to complete the necessary procedures on time.

With the University of Ghana Stadium also closed for renovations in preparation for the CAF African Schools Football Championship, Hearts of Oak have had no choice but to relocate to the Tuba Astroturf for their match on Wednesday.

This latest venue dilemma is part of a growing issue for Hearts of Oak this season. Since September 2024, the club has been playing at Legon due to the deteriorating condition of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Now, with another setback, they must adjust to a smaller and less familiar playing surface.

This ongoing struggle raises concerns about the availability of quality stadiums for Ghanaian clubs.

As Hearts of Oak continue their nomadic season, the issue highlights the challenges faced by teams in securing proper venues for their matches.
