The Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku took a significant step in upgrading the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence by breaking ground for the construction of a new 40-bed accommodation facility in Prampram.

Joined by members of the Executive Council, delegates to Congress, former GFA officials like Fred Pappoe and Emmanuel Gyimah, and the media, President Simeon-Okraku highlighted the importance of this project in elevating the centre to meet international standards.

The construction of this new facility is part of a broader initiative by the GFA leadership to enhance the centre’s infrastructure, ensuring it becomes a premier location for training and hosting various national teams.

This ambitious project is partially funded by the 2022 World Cup allocation from the government, showcasing a commitment to investing in the future of Ghanaian football.

Expressing his excitement during the groundbreaking ceremony, President Simeon-Okraku praised the government for its financial support, which has made this legacy project possible.

He also acknowledged the Executive Council and Congress members for backing such a pivotal development.

“I’m thrilled to see this day and to celebrate the decision to build a 40-bed accommodation facility here in Prampram,” said President Simeon-Okraku. “This project is a major milestone for the advancement of our game, and I’m deeply grateful to the government for its leadership and financial support.

This facility will directly benefit our national teams and contribute to the growth of football in Ghana.”

The new accommodation facility is just one part of a comprehensive upgrade at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre.

The plans also include the installation of floodlights on the AstroTurf, the construction of top-tier natural grass pitches, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a Futsal arena.

These enhancements underline the GFA’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for football training and development.

The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence has been a crucial training and camping base for Ghana’s national teams.
