The Ghanaian men’s and women’s national beach volleyball teams have concluded their final training sessions at La Boma Beach ahead of the Africa Beach Volleyball Championship qualifiers set to take place in Morocco from June 22 to June 30.
The tournament also serves as the qualifying round for the 2025 World Championship in Australia this August.
With spirits high and preparations complete, both teams are poised to represent Ghana on the continental stage, aiming to secure a spot among the world’s elite.
President of the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA), George Tetteh, expressed strong optimism about the teams’ chances, highlighting their recent success in Rwanda as a sign of progress.
“This is the most prepared our teams have ever been. The focus, discipline, and level of technical training are exceptional,” Tetteh said.
Supporting this sentiment, GVA Board Chairman Bawa Fusseini emphasized the broader implications of the upcoming qualifiers, noting that a strong performance in Morocco could help attract much-needed corporate sponsorship.
“Success at this stage is not just about qualification—it’s a gateway to sustainable support and growth for Ghanaian volleyball,” Fusseini noted.
The men’s team head coach echoed the confidence, stating that his players have honed their technical skills and are mentally ready to make a mark on the international stage. “We’re not just going to participate—we’re going to compete,” he said.
Acting men’s team captain Kelvin Caboo reinforced the team’s ambition, expressing belief that Ghana is on the path to becoming a dominant force in African volleyball.
“We are grateful for the current leadership and the support that has brought us this far. Now it’s our turn to deliver,” Caboo stated.
Ghana will now set its sights on Morocco, hoping to convert its months of preparation into a ticket to the world stage.
