Novak Djokovic has pulled out of Serbia’s Davis Cup first-round qualifier against Denmark, citing a hamstring injury.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who recently faced controversy at the Australian Open, withdrew from his semi-final match against Alexander Zverev last week after losing the first set due to the same injury.

Some fans booed Djokovic as he retired from the match, but the 37-year-old later shared an MRI of his left hamstring on social media, addressing critics with the caption: “Thought I’d leave this here for all the sports injury ‘experts’ out there.”

Serbia’s Davis Cup captain, Viktor Troicki, acknowledged the team’s loss without Djokovic but expressed confidence in their chances. “We are weakened by not playing Novak, but we are still going for the win,” Troicki said.

“The Danes have a great player in Holger Rune, but our players are also great and I believe in my team.”

Despite Djokovic’s absence, Serbia remains determined to perform well in the upcoming tie, which starts Friday, with a resilient squad led by Troicki.
