The organizers of the “Fix the Country” movement, Democracy Hub, have announced plans to take to the streets once again in the coming days, citing the government’s failure to tackle the worsening illegal mining, or “galamsey,” crisis.
The group condemned the environmental devastation caused by illegal mining and its impact on the country’s water bodies.
Naa Densuah, the group’s convener, is calling for the resignation of several top government officials, including the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, accusing them of benefiting from the illicit mining activities.
She emphasized that the crisis goes beyond environmental damage, pointing to a larger issue of governance failure, driven by greed and profit.
Densuah also urged all Ghanaians, especially the youth, to rise against illegal mining and corruption, stressing the importance of holding the government accountable. She called on the younger generation to lead the movement for change and secure a better future.
