Katie Archibald is set to return to competition at this month’s Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark after recovering from a freak injury that kept her out of the Olympics.
The 30-year-old athlete broke two bones in her leg and tore ligaments after tripping over a step in her garden in June.
She will be part of a 23-member squad that includes 11 Olympic medallists from this summer’s Games in Paris.
Notable teammates include defending sprint world champion Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, and Katy Marchant, who collectively secured Great Britain’s first Olympic women’s team sprint gold.
In the women’s endurance events, Archibald will be joined by Neah Evans, who earned silver in the madison, as well as Josie Knight, Anna Morris, and Jess Roberts, who won bronze in the team pursuit.
Men’s team pursuit silver medallists Dan Bigham, Ethan Hayter, Charlie Tanfield, and Ollie Wood will also compete in Ballerup.
This will be Bigham’s final event for Great Britain before he transitions to his new role as head of engineering for the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe pro cycling team.
The World Championships will take place from October 16-20 2024.
