The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has warned of an indefinite strike if the government fails to address their grievances by December 31, 2024.
In a December 23 press statement, CETAG accused the government of failing to implement an arbitration award issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC) on May 2, 2023.
The union had suspended an earlier strike in August 2024 after assurances from key stakeholders, but now claims the government has breached the subsequent agreement.
CETAG is calling on stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, to intervene urgently to avert the strike.
