The presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially filed his nomination to contest the 7 December presidential election at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Speaking after filing his nomination, Bawumia expressed confidence in securing victory in the December polls, citing Ghana’s strong democratic traditions. He praised the EC’s historical conduct of elections and urged continued prayers for a peaceful and successful process.
“I believe that Madam Chair and your team will live up to the high standards set by the EC… I also pray for God’s blessings for the NPP, myself, and my team to emerge victorious in this election” Bawumia said.
Bawumia emphasized the importance of reinforcing and improving Ghana’s democratic traditions, expressing pride in the country’s democratic progress. He thanked the EC Chairperson and her team for their warm reception.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s national chairman and general secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and some party leaders.
With his nomination filed, Bawumia is now officially in the running for the presidency, vying to lead the NPP to victory in the upcoming election.
