Black Stars and Fenerbahçe defender Alexander Djiku sustained a thigh strain during Fenerbahçe’s 3-0 victory over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.

Djiku was substituted by Rodrigo Becao in the 61st minute, and Fenerbahçe’s medical team has confirmed a strained right thigh, sidelining him for up to two weeks.

The center back had been included in Black Stars manager Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger, scheduled for September. Djiku was among the last to join the team for June’s internationals due to a hand injury.

It remains uncertain whether head coach Otto Addo will call up additional defenders or rely on Abdul Mumin, Mohammed Salisu, Jerome Opoku, and Alidu Seidu to fill the gap.

Ghana will face Angola on September 5 at Baba Yara Stadium and then travel to Morocco to play against Niger on September 9.
