Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has officially rebranded as the United Party (UP Plus), marking a significant shift in its political journey and paying homage to a name deeply rooted in Ghana’s political history.
At a ceremony in Accra to unveil the new identity, Party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface said UP Plus stands for a renewed commitment to good governance, credible leadership, and transformational change.
“Today, we present to you the United Party or UP Plus. This political organisation is meant to bring real change to governance,” he declared. “We are focused on universal values and respect for competent leadership — not just leaders, but credible individuals with a vision.”
Party leader Alan Kyerematen, in his keynote address, described the rebrand as the beginning of “a new dawn” for Ghanaian politics — one that promises economic transformation, job creation, transparent governance, and a stronger fight against corruption.
“A new dawn that will mobilise the collective strengths and talents of all Ghanaians… that will promote accountable and transparent governance and introduce a policy of zero tolerance for corruption,” he said.
Kyerematen emphasized that UP Plus offers a credible alternative to the long-standing winner-takes-all political structure, calling for an inclusive and visionary approach to national development.
The party officially received its registration certificate from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025, formalising its transition from the Movement for Change to UP Plus.
With the rebrand, the party aims to consolidate its position as a third political force in Ghana’s evolving political landscape, ahead of future electoral contests.
