Ghanaian dancer and digital creator Lisa Quama has kicked off her United States tour on a strong note, with her dance classes in New York and Philadelphia attracting sold-out audiences and bringing African dance culture to new communities.
The classes, held at Ripley Grier Studios in New York on July 24 and Creative Reaction Studio in Philadelphia on August 9, were organised in collaboration with DWP Academy USA. The sessions brought together professional and amateur dancers, content creators and Afrobeats enthusiasts for an immersive experience centred on movement, culture and community.
Participants had the opportunity to learn choreography directly from Lisa while experiencing the energy and creativity that have helped her build a global audience of more than seven million followers across social media.
The strong turnout comes shortly after Lisa’s recent engagements with FIFA and Coca-Cola surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further highlighting the growing international interest in her work and African dance culture.
The sold-out classes also reflect the increasing global demand for African dance and the growing influence of African creators in the international entertainment space.
Known for her powerful choreography and engaging digital content, Lisa has built a distinctive identity by combining dance, storytelling and African culture to connect with audiences around the world.
Speaking about the experience, Lisa Quama said the response to the classes made the engagements particularly meaningful.
“These classes were incredibly special to me. To see that many people come together to celebrate dance and African culture in a new city is something I’ll always be grateful for. This is only the beginning.”
The U.S. tour forms part of Lisa’s expanding international engagements as she continues to champion African creativity through performances, collaborations and dance education.
Her tour will continue later this month with additional dance classes in Florida and the DMV area, alongside community events in key cities. The engagements will provide more opportunities for dancers, creators and fans to connect with Lisa while experiencing African dance culture firsthand.
As Lisa Quama continues to take her craft to international audiences, her U.S. tour further demonstrates the growing global reach of Ghanaian dance and the influence of African creators on the international creative scene.
