Alex Pereira retained his UFC light-heavyweight title in style, stopping Khalil Rountree in four thrilling rounds at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City.

The Brazilian champion, 37, survived a second-round scare after being dropped by a counter right hand. However, Pereira recovered and methodically broke down Rountree, finishing the bloodied and exhausted American with a devastating uppercut.

With this victory, Pereira sets a new UFC record for the shortest period between three consecutive title defenses – an impressive 175 days. He surpasses UFC legend Ronda Rousey’s previous record.

The Brazilian maintains his position as one of the most feared strikers in the UFC, with four consecutive stoppage victories. His 2024 run includes wins over former champions Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka.

Pereira praised Rountree’s toughness, saying, “This was one of the toughest fights. He showed tonight why he’s got so much quality.”

Pereira teased a move up to heavyweight or back down to middleweight but confirmed he’s staying at 205lb (14st 6lb, 93kg). “This division is great, and this is where I am at,” he said.
