Chef Abbys has hosted the second edition of her Big Street Feast, an initiative aimed at providing free meals to 50,000 people across Accra and Kumasi to mark World Food Day.

The event took place on Friday, October 16, 2026, with the main distribution point at Ghud Park, Accra Mall. It brought together food businesses, volunteers and other supporters to provide free food, drinks and water while drawing attention to hunger and food insecurity.

Beyond the meals, the initiative offered members of the public an opportunity to come together, relax and enjoy the occasion at no cost.

Speaking at Ghud Park, a representative of Chef Abbys identified as Gideon said the initiative was organised to give people access to free meals in recognition of World Food Day.

He said the team hoped to continue the initiative in subsequent years, depending on the outcome of this edition.

According to Gideon, organisers set up several distribution points to reach different communities. These included Ghud Park at Accra Mall, Madina, Kwabenya, Kasoa and Fadama, while mobile trucks extended distribution to other areas.

Through the Big Street Feast, Chef Abbys seeks to make food more accessible and encourage collective efforts to address hunger in Ghana.
