Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, says he believes divine intervention played a role in his recent reassignment from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The minister was moved to his current portfolio as part of President John Dramani Mahama ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026.
Speaking at the official handing-over ceremony for the new Local Government Minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim reflected on the events surrounding his transfer and said they had deepened his belief that the decision was guided by God.
He recalled that he was preaching at the Global Evangelical Church on the same day the reshuffle was announced when he received the news of his new appointment.
According to him, he was handed a Bible while at the church, an incident he now considers significant given that the Christian Council of Ghana was present at the ceremony marking his departure from the ministry.
Hon. Ibrahim said the sequence of events appeared too meaningful to him to be dismissed as coincidence and reinforced his conviction that his new assignment was part of a larger divine plan.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his new capacity and formally handed over the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs portfolio to Mahama Ayariga.
Ahmed Ibrahim has since begun work at the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, while Mr. Ayariga assumes responsibility for the Local Government portfolio.
