President John Dramani Mahama has expressed interest in strengthening Ghana’s relations with Brazil following the re-election of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

In a congratulatory message, President Mahama described Lula’s victory as well-deserved and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation between the two countries.

He said Ghana and Brazil could build on their shared history to promote mutual interests, particularly through the Accra Reset initiative.

President Mahama added that the initiative would provide an avenue for both countries to advance the interests of nations in the Global South.

Lula secured another term after reportedly defeating Liberal Party candidate Flávio Bolsonaro in Brazil’s presidential runoff election on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
