In a bid to combat corruption and promote integrity, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has announced the establishment of the National Vultures Award.
This is an initiative aimed at exposing and shaming corrupt officials in the country, according to the Speaker.
Speaking before Parliament was adjourned indefinitely, Speaker Bagbin emphasised the importance of integrity in governance and society.
He outlined plans for a National Integrity Award to recognise individuals who have demonstrated exceptional ethical conduct and transparency. However, in addition to rewarding integrity, the initiative will also hold accountable those who fail to uphold ethical standards.
“By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but desired and rewarded. We would organise an award for men and women of integrity.
“Apart from the National Integrity Award that will be awarded to men and women of integrity. There will also be what is termed a Vulture Award, which will be bestowed upon men and women with the lowest levels of integrity in the country,” he added.
