The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election.

In a letter dated February 6, 2026, and addressed to General Secretaries of all registered political parties, the Commission announced that the meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at its Corporate Head Office in Accra.

According to the EC, discussions at the meeting will focus exclusively on issues relating to the Ayawaso East by-election.

“Each Political Party is to be represented by two (2) persons only,” the Commission directed in the invitation.

The letter was signed by Dr Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, on behalf of the Chairperson of the Commission.

The Ayawaso East by-election has drawn increased public and political attention in recent days following internal developments within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including allegations of vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primary.

The by-election was triggered by the death of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, leaving the seat vacant.
