The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has confirmed the release of former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware Mensah, after she met the GH¢10 million bail condition set by the Accra High Court.
Mr. Mohammed disclosed that the former Executive Director of the NSA, Osei Assibey Antwi, has yet to meet his bail condition of GH¢800 million and therefore remains in custody.
“Madam Gifty Oware, it was yesterday that she met the bail condition, and she has been released, but her boss is still in custody. Eight hundred million — what kind of bail condition is that?” Haruna Mohammed remarked.
Mrs. Oware Mensah, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including willfully causing financial loss to the state, stealing, money laundering, and using public office for profit, was arraigned before the Accra High Court on October 22, 2025.
According to prosecutors, during her tenure at the National Service Authority, she allegedly created about 9,934 fictitious National Service personnel, through which she unlawfully received monthly allowances intended for those “ghost names.”
The alleged actions are said to have caused the state financial losses exceeding GH¢38 million.
Investigations into the case are ongoing as both former officials await further court proceedings.
