Ghana delivered a masterclass in youth badminton as its U-15 team clinched five gold medals and one silver at the All-African Championships in Accra.
The five-day event, branded the Ghana Grand Slam 2025, brought together elite junior talents from 24 African countries. The tournament was held at the newly built Borteyman Sports Complex, a showcase of Ghana’s growing investment in sports infrastructure.

Rising star Obampo Adu-Mintah emerged as the standout performer of the championship. He claimed four golds across singles, doubles, and team events, making a resounding statement of intent. U-15 girls’ champion Moslena Ama Adu Koramah also shone brightly, winning three golds and one silver.
In the boys’ singles final, Adu-Mintah defeated South Africa’s Aiden Dednam in straight sets. It was a clinical 23-minute display of power and precision. Koramah added her name to the winners’ list after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Algeria’s Chiraz Halimi in the girls’ singles final.
Ghana’s medal rush didn’t end there. They triumphed in the boys’ doubles, mixed doubles, and the team relay, sealing their dominance with a thumping win over South Africa in the final match.

Evans Yeboah, President of the Ghana Badminton Federation, hailed the young squad for their hunger and drive. “We are thrilled with the progress of badminton in Ghana,” he said. He praised their consistency following a strong showing at the African School Games earlier this year.
Youth and Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams also addressed the team. He applauded their brilliance and reaffirmed the government’s support for badminton development. He promised more backing through the incoming National Sports Fund.
The venue buzzed with excitement as medals, trophies, and sponsor prizes were handed out. Families, fans, and coaches cheered on the rising generation with pride and joy.
This golden haul signals more than just a tournament win. It reflects the fruits of years of grassroots investment.
