South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP), Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has filed a suit against Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour for defamation.
He alleges that a social media post published by the latter has gravely damaged his reputation, integrity and political standing.
The suit, filed at the High Court, stems from a May 8, 2025, post on “X”, formerly known as Twitter, in which Rev Fordjour said that Mr Dafeamekpor, as vice chairman of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, must provide answers to some alleged payments.
Rev Fordjour further suggested that a probe was necessary and accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of benefiting from some monies while in opposition.
However, Mr Dafeamekpor, who serves as the Chief Whip of the Majority in Parliament, has denied the claims, asserting that he was not even a member of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in December 2023, when the incident allegedly took place.
He contended that the statements are not only “false and malicious” but were made with reckless disregard for the truth.
The South Dayi MP is seeking a declaration that the statements were defamatory, along with several remedies, including an interlocutory and perpetual injunction restraining Rev Fordjour from further publications. He is also seeking 30 million cedis in damages
