Italian giants Roma have parted ways with head coach Daniele De Rossi, following a dismal start to the Serie A season.
The Roma legend took the reins in January, replacing José Mourinho, but failed to turn the team’s fortunes around. Despite signing a contract extension until 2027 in June, De Rossi’s tenure lasted just seven months.
Roma released a statement explaining the decision: “The move is made to get the team back on track as soon as possible, while the season is still in its early stages… A heartfelt thank you to Daniele for his passion and dedication.”
De Rossi’s departure comes after a dramatic weekend, which saw him sent off during Roma’s 1-1 draw at Genoa on Sunday. The result left Roma languishing in 16th place in the Serie A table.
As a player, De Rossi spent nearly two decades at Roma (2001-2019), earning adoration from the fans and establishing himself as a club legend.
