The drums echoed across Tarkwa long before the final whistle arrived. By the end of a thrilling afternoon at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, Medeama SC had turned celebration into certainty, crushing Heart of Lions 5-2 to secure the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title in unforgettable style.

The Mauve and Yellow entered the contest knowing victory would seal the crown with one match left. They responded with the confidence of champions, attacking with speed, aggression, and belief from the opening whistle.

Kelvin Obeng set the tone early, firing Medeama ahead to ignite the packed stadium. Heart of Lions briefly silenced the crowd with a 40th-minute equaliser, but the hosts refused to lose control of the moment.

Two minutes later, Obeng struck again. His second goal restored Medeama’s lead and brought the noise levels inside the TnA Stadium to another level as supporters sensed history was close.

The second half became a celebration in motion. Derrick Fordjour scored twice with ruthless finishing, while Prince Owusu added the fifth goal to complete the rout and send fans into wild celebrations across Tarkwa.

Etse Dogli converted from the penalty spot for Heart of Lions, but it changed little. Medeama had already seized full command of the match and the title race.

This triumph carries deeper meaning for the club. Medeama’s first Premier League title in 2022/23 marked a breakthrough moment, but this latest success feels like proof that the club now belongs among Ghana football’s elite.

Head coach Ibrahim Tanko deserves huge credit for that transformation. His side combined attacking flair with consistency, especially at home where Medeama built one of the league’s strongest records.

The TnA Stadium became a fortress throughout the campaign. Medeama won 12 home matches, lost only once, scored 35 goals, and conceded just 11 in front of their supporters.

Those numbers tell the story of a team that grew stronger under pressure. Even after setbacks against Berekum Chelsea and Dreams FC in the MTN FA Cup, Medeama recovered quickly and never allowed doubt to creep into their title push.

The victory also keeps the Ghana Premier League trophy in the Western Region for a fourth straight season. Medeama, FC Samartex, Bibiani Gold Stars, and now Medeama again have turned the region into the heartbeat of Ghanaian club football.

Away from the pitch, the club is already preparing for the next chapter. Qualification for the CAF Champions League brings fresh challenges, and Medeama have moved quickly by extending goalkeeper Felix Kyei’s contract and strengthening key areas of the squad.

Their season will end away to Hearts of Oak, but the hard work is already complete. In Tarkwa, the title party has only just begun.
