James Kwesi Appiah, former coach of Ghana, attributes Sudan’s impressive performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers to the dedication of his players.

Under Appiah’s guidance, the Falcons of Jediane secured three victories and one draw, including a notable 3-0 triumph against South Sudan in their latest match.

This streak places them at the top of Group B with 10 points, edging past Senegal, the 2021 African champions, by two points.

Despite facing challenges such as being unable to play home matches in Sudan due to the ongoing conflict, the team has shown resilience and determination, resulting in their unbeaten record under Appiah’s leadership.

Appiah, who embarked on a new journey with Sudan in October 2023 along with his Ghanaian backroom staff, including assistant coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu and former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda, emphasizes the commitment of his players to adapt and excel in his preferred style of play.

Having previously led Ghana to the 2014 World Cup, Appiah aims to replicate that success with Sudan, leveraging the dedication and talent of his squad to achieve their World Cup qualification dreams.
