Coach Otto Addo has named a 24-man Ghana squad for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, blending experience with new faces in a pivotal moment for the Black Stars.
The squad, features established stars Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams. Union Berlin’s Derrick Arthur Köhn headlines the fresh additions, receiving his first international call-up after an impressive Bundesliga season. The 26-year-old left-back, who joined Union from Galatasaray this summer, was a standout at Werder Bremen last year with 27 appearances and two goals.

There is also a return for winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, who has hit the ground running at Atalanta following his switch from Southampton. Elisha Owusu is back after recovering from a long-term injury, while rising star Caleb Yirenkyi earns his place after dazzling for FC Nordsjaelland and at the Unity Cup in London. Defender Tariq Lamptey makes his long-awaited return, with Christopher Bonsu Baah and goalkeeper Joseph Anang also securing call-ups.

For Otto Addo, the balance between continuity and experimentation is key. Ghana currently tops Group I with 15 points from six games, having won five and lost just once. A strong showing against Chad and Mali could put the Black Stars within touching distance of qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The double game header begins with an away trip to N’djamena, where Ghana will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4. Four days later, they return home to the Accra Sports Stadium to host Mali in what could prove the defining fixture of the group.
Beyond the numbers, the atmosphere around the team is one of cautious optimism. The return of fit-again players will lift spirits, while the inclusion of Köhn and Yirenkyi signals a desire to refresh the squad with new energy. With Partey and Kudus orchestrating midfield play and Williams together with Semenyo leading the line, Ghana look well-equipped to maintain momentum.
Otto Addo and his squad will open camp in Accra on September 1, holding sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium before departing for Chad.
