Madison Keys showcased resilience and firepower, rallying from a set down to defeat Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and secure her place in the Australian Open semifinals.

Keys, the No.19 seed, overcame the No.28 seed in a gripping quarterfinal showdown, extending her winning streak to 10 matches in 2025. The former World No.7 now advances to her seventh Grand Slam semifinal—and third in Melbourne—where she will face World No.2 Iga Swiatek, a formidable opponent who holds a 4-1 lead in their head-to-head record.

“I’m really, really proud of myself to be in another semifinal here,” Keys said post-match. “I’m hoping to go one step further this time.”

Keys’ journey has been a testament to her renewed form and determination. The 29-year-old began the season with a title at the WTA 500 in Adelaide, equaling her career-best 10-match winning streak from 2022.

Along the way, she’s taken down a string of top-seeded players, including Danielle Collins, Elena Rybakina, and now Svitolina, all with a revamped service motion and fine-tuned equipment.

The quarterfinal was a tale of contrasting styles, with Keys hammering 49 winners to Svitolina’s 20. The decisive moment came in the third set when Keys slammed a backhand return winner to secure a crucial break for 3-2, holding firm thereafter to close out the match.
