The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) concluded the electrifying 2024 Ghana Rugby League 9s tournament in Accra, showcasing thrilling action, emerging talents, and a unique focus on community health.
The tournament was hosted each and every Sunday in October at the University of Ghana Rugby field. In all, 45 matches were played and spectators were wowed by the level of passion and talent displayed on the field by the players.
In a nail-biting finale, Nungua Tigers dethroned defending champions Skolars 13-10, ending their winning streak. Gideon Klugey’s 11 tries and Kofi Montchon’s 20 conversions propelled Tigers to the top.
Accra Panthers successfully defended their championship, defeating Nungua Tigers 12-0 in the final. Margaret Tuffour and Ivy Benyah tied with five tries each, solidifying Panthers’ dominance.
In their inaugural appearance, Accra Panthers’ youth team dominated the field, winning 12-0 against Accra Majestics. Kofi Adusei and Jamal Yussif’s impressive performances highlighted the future of rugby league in Ghana.
