The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Renal Unit has reopened its doors after a three-week hiatus, bringing much-needed relief to patients requiring dialysis.

The unit, crucial for many battling chronic kidney conditions, had been closed due to a shortage of medical supplies, which were delayed at Tema Port.

Recent reports show a surge in patient numbers at the Renal Unit. Earlier this week, patients had planned a protest at the unit to demand action on the stalled medical supplies.

In response, the Ministry of Finance has granted a tax waiver to expedite the clearance of additional supplies expected to arrive at the port soon.

The hospital has expressed its gratitude to the Ministries of Health and Finance and other stakeholders for their swift intervention.

As the Renal Unit resumes its operations, patients are optimistic about a more stable and reliable healthcare service in the near future.
