The Dutch Grand Prix will no longer be a part of the Formula 1 calendar after 2026. Despite its popularity and sell-out crowds, the event has struggled to make ends meet financially. The Zandvoort track, which returned to the F1 calendar in 2021 after a 36-year absence, has hosted four successful events, with Max Verstappen winning the first three races.

However, the financial strain of hosting the event has become too great, and the organizers have decided to go out on a high note with two more events in 2025 and 2026. The 2025 Dutch Grand Prix will take place on August 29-31, while the 2026 event will be a sprint weekend, with a shorter race on Saturday and the main event on Sunday.

“We are a privately owned and operated business, and we must balance the opportunities presented by continuing to host the event, against other risks and responsibilities,” said Robert Van Overdijk, Dutch Grand Prix director. “We have decided to go out on a high with two more incredible Dutch Grands Prix in 2025 and 2026.”

The loss of the Dutch Grand Prix from the F1 calendar will help to ease some of the fixture congestion that the sport was facing in forthcoming years. There have been talks of rotating some of the European races so that they take place every other year, in order to accommodate every country that wants to host a grand prix.

F1 is also seeking to expand into Africa, with talks underway with Rwanda about hosting an event near Kigali. Meanwhile, Madrid will make its debut on the F1 calendar in 2026, taking over the Spanish Grand Prix from Barcelona.
