The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given the green light for the Accra Sports Stadium to host the highly-anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Ghana’s Black Stars and Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane.

After conducting a comprehensive review of inspection reports, CAF approved the Accra Sports Stadium for the crucial Matchday 3 encounter, scheduled for October 11, 2024. However, the Cape Coast Stadium was inspected but looks to have not made the mark.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) had been directed to find an alternative venue after the Baba Yara Stadium’s temporary approval was revoked. CAF’s approval brings relief to the GFA and the Black Stars.

Ghana seeks to revive their qualifying campaign after failing to win their opening two games against Angola and Niger.

CAF urged the GFA and stadium management to prioritize enhancements to the pitch and critical areas to ensure an optimal experience for teams and fans.
