Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has rendered an unqualified apology to former President John Mahama for being harsh and uncharitable to him because of partisan politics.

Mr Agyapong speaking on Starr FM’s StarrChat programme on Thursday, October 5, 2023, noted that, he has not been fair to  John Mahama, though he (Mahama) showed him a lot of goodness and kindness at all times. Mr Agyapong described John Mahama as a wonderful person who treated him with love and respect.

He stressed that as a fallible being, he had no issue admitting his mistakes and publicly apologizing to John Mahama for being unfair to him by way of the harsh words he had previously used on him.

“You see, I have learned a lot in politics. I want to take this opportunity to apologize to President Mahama…You know because of NDC and NPP, the way he has handled me and the way I have spoken harsh words and all, I think that I have not been fair to Mahama. He’s such a wonderful person…I apologize I am a human being. I think that if I recount back my relationship with him and all, I want to say I am sorry,” he told the host of the programme Bola Ray.

Mr Agyapong is one of the fiercest critics of former President John Mahama. He became especially, vitriolic and ferocious in his criticism of John Mahama prior to the 2016 General Elections.

Now though, he has admitted that upon reflection, he did wrong by John Mahama and has publicly apologized.

Mr Agyapong is a formidable contender for the flagbearer position of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and could face John Mahama if he wins the November 4 National Delegates Conference of the party.
