Dr. Kevin Dapaah, the co-founder and clinical director of Dove Dental & Wellbeing Spa, has urged the public to prioritise their oral health and seek prompt medical attention for their dental issues before they worsen.
Speaking on the AM Club, Dr. Dapaah highlighted the issue of limited access and high dental treatment costs in developing countries like Ghana as compared to countries with more developed systems like the UK.

He also stressed on the complications of getting treatment only when the situation worsens; while noting that late intervention can lead to severe health problems like oral cancer.
In a later submission, Dr. Dapaah added that the prevalence of diseases like malaria in developing countries like Ghana has made oral health deprioritized as more efforts are directed towards treating such tropical diseases. To him, what this creates is less education on dental hygiene which affects the population long term.
As part of addressing these challenges, he went on to speak about the 6th Dental Outreach Program by Smile4Ghana, which will be happening at Essikado in the Western Region.
