President Akufo-Addo relieves Finance Minister of his duties

The minister will be replaced by Mohammed Amin Adam as the substantive Minister for Finance if vetted and approved by the appointment committee of parliament.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has relieved the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, of his duties with immediate effect.

The minister will be replaced by Mohammed Amin Adam as the substantive Minister for Finance if vetted and approved by the appointment committee of parliament.

This new directive was conveyed in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, informing him of the reshuffle in cabinet members.

Other major changes, as outlined in the letter, include the reassignment of the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, to the Ministry of Works and Housing; Francis Asenso-Boakye to the Ministry of Roads and Highways; Henry Quartey to the Ministry of the Interior; and Ambrose Dery as Minister of State at the Office of the President.

Further changes encompass the nominations of Lydia Seyram Alhassan as Minister-designate for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources; Dakoa Newman to the Ministry of Gender, Women, and Social Protection; Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye as Minister for Health; Titus Glover as the Greater Accra Regional Minister; Fatima Abubakar as Minister for Information; Andrew Agyapa Mercer as Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture; and Ophelia Mensah Hayfor as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
