The Government of Ghana has initiated an emergency evacuation process for Ghanaian nationals residing in Qatar amid rising security concerns in parts of the Middle East.

The evacuation arrangements are being coordinated by Ghana’s Embassy in Doha to facilitate the voluntary return of citizens who wish to travel back to Ghana as a precautionary measure.

In a notice dated March 15, 2026, the embassy stated that the decision follows a prior communication issued on March 6, 2026, which addressed the evolving security situation in the region.

According to the notice, Ghanaian nationals who intend to return home under the evacuation exercise have been advised to register with the embassy to enable officials to coordinate the repatriation process effectively. The registration will help the mission determine the number of citizens seeking evacuation and make the necessary logistical arrangements.

The embassy also urged Ghanaian residents in Qatar to remain vigilant and adhere to safety directives issued by local authorities while monitoring official updates from the mission.

The evacuation exercise is expected to be conducted as a one-way repatriation arrangement for citizens who choose to return to Ghana under the emergency measure.

Authorities say the government continues to closely monitor developments in the region while working through diplomatic channels to safeguard the safety and welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad.
