Professor Joshua Alabi, the 2020 Campaign Manager for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government over the recent power challenges facing the nation.

Alabi stated that the current situation, which has caused distress for many Ghanaians, was preventable, and he attributed the issue to the incompetence of the NPP government.

He pointed out that the NDC had left excess power capacity in 2016 for the NPP, but their mismanagement has led to the current power crisis.

Alabi emphasized that since taking office in 2016, the Nana Addo-led Government has not made any significant additions to the energy sector, leading to the recent challenges.

“Since they came into power, they have not made any improvements to the energy sector. That’s why I say it could have been prevented. Good management would have avoided this,” he noted.

Alabi also highlighted the 24-hour economy as a beneficial initiative to address the growing unemployment situation in the country.

He believes that the policy will enable companies to implement shift systems, creating opportunities for more people to work.

He mentioned that if the NDC is elected into office in 2025, they will immediately begin laying out plans, including taxes and utility bill considerations for companies implementing the policy, to ensure its swift implementation.

Alabi expressed confidence that the introduction of the policy will significantly transform the country’s economic situation and urged Ghanaians to choose the opposition party in the December elections.

These remarks were made following Joshua Alabi’s donation of a power plant on behalf of Former President John Dramani Mahama to the Ashanti West Assemblies of God Church at Tanoso.

He stated that the gesture fulfilled a promise made by Mr. Mahama to the Church months ago and would greatly assist the Church, especially during the current power challenges.

Leaders and members of the Church commended the former president and prayed for his success in all his endeavours.
