Mali and Ghana in Round 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in quite an intense showpiece in Bamako.
Prior to the match, many football fanatics in Ghana were hopeful that Coach Otto Addo would secure his first competitive win in his second stint as the Black Stars coach.
The Black Stars, showing great resilience, managed to come from behind and secure a crucial 2-1 win over the Malian Eagles at the Stade du Mars.
At the start, both teams were slow, but Mali eventually took control and started to threaten the Ghanaian goal.
Despite the hosts wasting early chances, the Black Stars also showed strength and had opportunities to score before halftime.
Jordan Ayew became the hero of the evening for the Black Stars by scoring a goal in additional time, leading Ghana to an impressive comeback win over Mali in Bamako.
While Kamory Doumbia’s 58th-minute goal appeared to give Mali the victory, Ernest Nuamah’s equalizer and Ayew’s late winner ensured the Black Stars secured a crucial away win.
Looking forward, Ghana will host Central African Republic on Monday, June 10.
