The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Most Rev. Bonaventure Kwofie (CSSP), has called on the President of the Republic of Ghana to stick to his promises delivered to Ghanaians in the build up to the 2024 elections.

Speaking during the 25th anniversary celebration of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church Danfa, Most. Rev. Bonaventure Kwofie called on the president to tackle issues of corruption, illegal mining commonly known as “galamsey” and the passage of the anti LGBTQ+ bill as he puts together his government.

According to him, Ghanaians believed his promises and voted massively for him, therefore the “eyes of the public are on him”.

“President John Mahama, you do not want to throw a tantrum. It is too early to do that. But know that eyes are watching. As you put your government together, we want you to stick to your word on corruption, galamsey fraud and the LGBTQ issues. Many Ghanaians voted for you because we saw the greatest ethical standards when you said this, do not backtrack nor side track or you shall be a big disappointment” he noted.

Most Rev. Bonaventure Kwofie also advised politicians to make good use of their positions and not turn it into looting from the public purse. He asked that the public funds to appropriated judiciously

“Let us use it (national resources) to serve one another. By so doing we glorify God through Jesus Christ” he said.
