Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, is advocating for the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the second half of the Ghana Premier League season.
This push follows a productive two-day meeting with FIFA representatives, Inokuchi Takaaki and Michael Bailey, who shared insights on VAR technology and procedures.
Alex Kotey, the Referees Manager and VAR team leader, confirmed Okraku’s commitment to implementing VAR in January 2025, during the second round of the league.
Okraku believes that VAR will significantly improve officiating standards in the Ghana Premier League.
Currently, the Ghana FA is awaiting FIFA’s official approval to proceed with the implementation of VAR in the country’s domestic leagues.
