President Nana Akufo-Addo has vowed to take immediate action to address the devastating impact of a prolonged drought on farmers in northern Ghana.

The region has been severely affected by the dry season, leading to significant crop losses and a sharp decline in farm output.

During a visit to inaugurate the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the hardships faced by farmers and promised that the government would announce relief measures in the coming days.

His pledge comes as the ‘One Village, One Dam’ initiative, aimed at supporting farmers during dry seasons, struggles due to the ongoing drought. Despite the construction of several dams, inadequate water storage has worsened the destruction of crops.
