Debutants Nsoatreman FC have made a strong statement in their first CAF Confederation Cup appearance, completing a 5-0 aggregate victory over Chad’s Elect Sport in the first preliminary round.
The Ghana FA Cup champions, who entered the second leg with a commanding 3-0 lead from the first match, showed no signs of letting up as they secured a 2-0 win on Saturday.
The match, played in Cameroon due to Elect Sport’s stadium in Chad failing CAF approval, saw Nsoatreman maintain their dominance.
Walid Fuseini opened the scoring with 10 minutes left in the first half, setting the tone for a comfortable outing.
Stephan Diyou sealed the victory with a goal just four minutes from full time, confirming Nsoatreman’s place in the next round with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
With this historic win, Nsoatreman advance to face either Police FC of Rwanda or Algeria’s Constantine in the next round.
Constantine currently holds a 2-0 lead in their tie, with the final match scheduled for Sunday.
Nsoatreman will also kick off their Ghana Premier League campaign on September 6, facing Young Apostles, before turning their attention back to the Confederation Cup.
The next round of the continental competition is set to begin on September 15, 2024.
