Nigeria secured the U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nations title by defeating Ghana 2-1 on Wednesday, October 30.

In the first half, Nigeria demonstrated their superiority and were duly rewarded.

They took the lead in the 33rd minute with a superb finish from Kparobo Arierhi. Just ten minutes later, Arierhi struck again, finding the top left corner after capitalizing on a loose ball in the 18-yard box.

Ghana, under coach Desmond Ofei, went into halftime trailing by two goals after a lackluster performance.

However, they emerged from the break with renewed vigor and maintained better possession from the start.

In the 75th minute, Jerry Afriyie gave Ghana a glimmer of hope by scoring his fifth goal of the tournament with a header.

Despite a strong late push from Ghana, Nigeria maintained their composure to secure the victory and lift the trophy.

Both teams will automatically qualify for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, regardless of the outcome of this match.
