Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool, ending months of speculation about his future at the club.

Salah, 32, was previously set to become a free agent this summer, with reports linking him to a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. However, the Liverpool star has now committed his future to the club he joined in 2017 from AS Roma.

“Of course I’m very excited — we have a great team now,” Salah said. “Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.”

He added, “I have played eight years here, hopefully it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here.”

Salah has been in outstanding form this season, netting 32 goals in all competitions, including 27 in the Premier League.

His performances have helped propel Liverpool to the top of the table, with the Reds sitting 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with seven games remaining as they pursue a record-equaling 20th English top-flight title.

Since joining Liverpool, Salah has made 393 appearances, scoring 243 goals and providing 109 assists. He has played a central role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history, winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Salah was one of three key Liverpool players nearing the end of their contracts this summer, along with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and centre-back Virgil van Dijk. While Van Dijk has confirmed progress in talks over a new deal, Alexander-Arnold has been strongly linked with a potential move to Real Madrid.

Salah’s decision to stay is a major boost for Liverpool as they look to build on their recent successes and usher in a new era under manager Jürgen Klopp.
