President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning in honour of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 76.
The mourning period begins on Friday, October 24, and ends on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
In a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the government announced that all national flags will fly at half-mast across public buildings, government installations, and Ghanaās diplomatic missions worldwide.
According to the statement, the gesture is a tribute to Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlingsā distinguished service to the nation, highlighting her lifelong dedication to womenās empowerment, child welfare, and social development.
āThe Government extends its deepest condolences to the family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace,ā the statement read.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, was a towering and influential figure in Ghanaās political and social history, remembered for her decades of advocacy and leadership.
